We really like our roadsters and Triumph have been doing the triple so well and for so long at this stage that we were almost worried when we saw the new 1200cc bike. We needn’t have been. The bike is perfect! The RS is very well spec-ed. The suspension is supplied by the geniuses from Öhlins and is fully adjustable at either end. The bike stops well with a set of state-of-the-art Stylema calipers with twin 320mm discs. It shows its true intentions being shod, as it is, on a set of Metzeler Racetec RR tyres. There is a quickshifter as well as a slipper clutch. Crude this bike is not!

The electrics package is impressive. The battery is a lithium ion one which saves weight and is easier to maintain. All the lights are LED units. The indicators even self-cancel! The ABS and traction control are linked to the bikes IMU and offer cornering control as standard. There is also front wheel lift control and there’s cruise control when we feel like taking it easy! There are five riding modes; road, rain, sport, track and one you can custom configure for yourself.
