Stronger Than Steel

The advent of protective denim has been a boon to us in the style and comfort stakes. The protective features are necessary, but now clothing specialists, Knox, have come up with the perfect solution to make the most protective clothing we’ve ever worn!

The nice people at Knox have introduced a range of armoured jeans, which are cut for men and women and combine Cordura denim, which is reinforced with a Spectra lining for maximum abrasion resistance. Spectra is actually a fabric that’s stronger than steel and 40% stronger than an aramid fibre like Kevlar.

These are denim jeans finished as you would expect from a favourite pair of jeans, yet these ones are built for motorcycling. They’ve been designed with a focus on fit, high performance abrasion resistance and impact protection. And the team from Knox have done all this very cleverly.

The companies own knee armour is concealed in a pocket that is accessed from the outside by an invisible zip. This means that while a smart system holds the knee protector against the knee when riding and the pocket height is also adjustable to give the perfect fit and riding position, once off the bike the knee and hip protectors can be removed in seconds for all day comfort.

The other factor is the lining, which can be a little bulky and hard to wear casually. Extra care is taken in the construction of the Spectra lining to avoid bulky exterior seams that means a pair of jeans that feel and look as good as a casual pair while providing as much, if not more protection than a pair of leather trousers.

They are well tailored, features YKK Zips, nice deep pockets, knee and hip armour and sizes from small all the way up to the somewhat disturbing triple extra large.

You can find these and the rest of the Knox range at at the Carole Nash Irish Motorcycle and Scooter show this March on the Overlanders stand. To book your stand space click here: https://bit.ly/2RI5hMy
